I've Got a Crush on You!

I am normally not a wedge heel kinda girl but these Bonnie Stamped Croc Wedges from Dior are SICK! *I'm drooling ladies, I'm drooling* I accidently ran across these and it literally took my breath away! These are sure to bring exoticness to your wardrobe.

The perforations make this look in the vogue for the spring and summer, yet coming in a croc-embossed leather material makes it wearable for every season there is. (GET EXCITED) It has multiple shaped straps across the front with zigzag trimming and tonal topstitching. A back zip fastening then makes this easy to wear on and off and adds a touch of sexiness....I LOVE a back zipper! The leather straps are atop a croc-embossed leather platform and wedge; while its five inches heel, which is also attached to the wedge, is covered in patent leather.

What more can a girl ask for?!?

Yogurt...I Remember When I Dumped You!

During my Ladies’ Day in the city this week, my gal pal and I decided to be adventurous by eating off of a food truck outside of Central Park. Our motto this Ladies’ Day was to indulge our inner fat girl; her choice was an Italian Sausage with onion and peppers wrapped in a pita, I had a classic cheeseburger. We decided to wash that all down with sodas since cocktails were not within arm’s reach. *blink* We were off the diet wagon and in our glory inhaling calories on the steps of the Museum of Natural History.

Fast forward to the next morning after a few Mimosas, my gal pal SWORE her tummy was bothering her from but of course – the “street food” as we have dubbed it. Her 30 minutes of paranoid melodrama consisting of such comments as, “I’m never eating an Italian Sausage again” was reminiscent of me. I didn’t want her to slip down the psychotic slippery slope that made me end my love affair yogurt! Picture it – New Jersey, winter, 2001, single, 18” Lugo hair straight with a center part (I might recycle that look soon), and I worked in the Patient Finance department at a hospital….

This particular day I was wearing a haute pair of black knee high boots with black embroidery, and a sexy silver heel from Why (sick Italian designer) that I lucked up on at Daffy’s, I recall being complimented on them as I picked up my morning yogurt from the cafeteria. My yogurt of choice was Dannon Fruit at the Bottom in Strawberry with a tablespoon of granola or Cheerios for added texture – I was serious about my yogurt, delicious and helped to control my weight.

All was well until that evening when I became violently ill! I had to drive myself to the ER that evening where I was informed that I had a bug that I must have caught from a patient who had recently visited South America. I was given an IV, a prescription, and told to get rest for a week but it didn’t matter what McDreamy in the ER said, I swore it was the yogurt since that was the last thing I had eaten. *insert my paranoid melodrama here* I immediately dumped yogurt; it was over just like that! I was bitter, she had betrayed me and to top it off she left me to be tempted by such yummy high caloric breakfast food like pancakes or grits with cheese. I totally gained 10 pounds without her in my life! I was strong during the break-up; I successfully avoided all temptation and thoughts of her yummy creaminess until McDonald’s introduced the Fruit n’ Yogurt Parfait. We’ve been reunited ever since!

Here’s my FAV yogurt smoothie recipe:

2-3 cups of plain/lowfat vanilla Greek yogurt

13-15 frozen strawberries

8-10 frozen peach slices

2-3 bananas

1 cup of ice (optional)

Put all ingredients except the yogurt in the blender. Blend on medium-high until all frozen fruits are finely chopped. Blend in yogurt. If you MUST add a sweetner, I suggest Splenda with Fiber or a bit of honey. ENJOY!

Note: You can put any leftovers in a plastic container and freeze it for a treat later.

Drool Worthy

I’ve come to realize that I dress from my feet up, a shoe is always selected first (based on mood, season, and occasion)…the rest just seems to fall into place! I’ve tried to select a blouse or a few bangles first but then I find myself faced with more shoe options than I even care to admit that would compliment my ensemble. *blink* Clearly you can see how a girl might end up in a pickle that way! I digress, feet up is the way that I roll.

The black and yellow stripped whipsnake box clutch is a power piece by Alexander McQueen. The color accent and the silver-tone skull and crystal-studded-knuckled-duster clasp SCREAMS edgy! A small yet powerful fashion punch, all women needs a “wild card” in her wardrobe. The sharp forma cut out sandals are by Miu Miu, edgy with a twist of elegance making this shoe multi-functional! It’s certainly edgy enough to play with the McQueen clutch but elegant enough to be paired with a maxi-dress for a Sunday afternoon brunch.

I love bold pieces that can carry an outfit – any outfit. This HAUTE duo would even make dark skinny jeans and a basic white tee deliciously fabulous! Let’s revamp our closets ladies, start by purchasing shoes and accessories to see which outfits from last year may still make the lineup in your Spring 2010 wardrobe. Step outside of the box, spice things up a bit, and let your hair down!

Fashion cannot be confined, it’s flexible and fluid. Fashion cannot be defined in a single term, it’s forever changing. I love that I am young and fashionably free during a time where there truly are NO rules, are you fully embracing your fashion freedom?

Spring Fever - Part 2

I am UBER excited about the Spring 2010 shoe line up!!! (yes, I KNOW I have a problem) I get this way every year during New York Fashion Week....it's like the official start of Srping/Summer shopping for us fashionistas, almost like a National Holiday! LOL

During my most recent late nite internet window shopping I found these cuties. The base of the sandal is super simple but the embellished ankle wrap makes my heart skip a beat with joy - dramatic yet feminine! (I would describe myself the same)

Taste the Rainbow

I don't know where to begin....not only do I love the triple platform and slender stiletto on these Casadei pumps but I am also totally obsessed with the candy like rainbow colors! This is a practical, modern, semi-conservative, always appropriate HAUTE shoe. *blink*

Okay yes, these puppies DO have a 5.5" heel but there is a 1.5' platform in the front which equals one mighty comfy shoe so they say. I tend to be a believer since every fab diva in Hollywood has been spotted with these on!

Spring Fever - Part 1

Buttons add a little prim to this not so proper leather sandal.....it's like a tug of war between good girl and bad girl! (sounds like the bio to my life)

Black leather and gunmetal hardware are all that a girl needs in a shoe/sandal, right?!? *blink* LOL

Winter Trend: Metal Heels

Salvatore Ferragamo

When you think of Salvatore Ferragamo, you think of a premium brand of luxury, elegance and sophistication. The Ferragamo family has been making shoes since the early 1920's with the consistency that only they can bring. The craftsmanship and detail of their collections is always amazing.

These Ferragamo beauties are made from Fondente leather, just FLAWLESS!

There is a very fine line between fashion and trashy when it comes to metal heels...but Ferragamo has pulled it off effortlessly.

Fit for a Queen!

Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 runway collection was amazing, but the shoes......the shoes are OUTRAGEOUS!!! Unlike anything I have ever seen. *blink* *blink*

Fantasy heels ruled on the ruled on the runway, they looked to be out of this world; super high, skeletor-like, and interesting curved booties clearly designed for the animalistic and bold.

My favorite are these bubble gum pink pumps with industrial looking metal accents - simply haute!!!

Word on the Fashion Stroll is that McQueen has been BOMBARDED with requests for these extraordinary heels since the collection debuted, expect to see these beauties in Tinseltown.

Don't let the various straps and buckles deter you - there's a back zip above those 4.5" heels, so you can slide 'em on or kick 'em off at will!

A Splash of Leopard Print

I have ALWAYS loved leopard print in moderation! Over the past few years animal print has been in, then out, and in again.....who would have guessed animal print would stand the test of time?!?

Unsurprisingly, it's been leopard that has remained most popular! *yaaaayyy* Tiger print is close behind in 2nd place while poor zebra has been relegated to the nouveau riche and Euro-trash set.
Try adding a splash of leopard in your wardrobe to prevent a fashion faux paus! I suggest this fabulous ring from Spiegel with a leopard-print-pyramid-shaped stone ($19)and these HAUTE Christian Louboutin Leopard Booties with black suede fabric and leopard print haircalf ankle cuffs ($975).

Fall Statement Shoe

Sometimes you find a pair of shoes that you love, but then you might think they are impratical because you don't know what to wear with them.

Do you dress from the shoe up?

At first glance these boots may appear to be hard add to your wardrobe, but paired with a perfect pair of leggings, a long silk tunic, blazer/bomber jacket and lots of accessories (that most of us already have in our closets), these BCBG Max Azria Ruffle Ankle Boots, $350 at Saks, can be an amazing addition to your wardrobe.

I want THESE but I"ll take those...and this too!

Exhibit A - what I want....

This Fall, we are going to see alot of lace, ruffles, pleats, and other romantic touches on shoes. My favorite is lace because it's very 80's rock (which you KNOW a Diva like me LOVES!!).....so here is the shoe that I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want - Christian Louboutin Ambro Leopard Lace Peep-Toe Pump, $825 (Exhibit A).

Being that $825 is outta my league, I have decided that I can get my "lace-fix" from....

Exhibit Bt I will take....
these cuties right here. (Exhibit B)

Yes yessss, CL (Christian Louboutin) does make the most beautiful lace shoes but these Carrielee Pumps by Guess are pretty darn haute!!! AND with a $99 price tag, they are almost a no brainer.

Exhibit C - throw this in TOO!!

And since I have knocked down the price from $825 to only $99, I might as well throw in this $20 lace evening bag to round out the entire look! *blink* *blink* *blink*

Brian Atwood is the NEW Love of My Life!

These Brian Atwood Lola Pumps are a MUST have ladies.....these are fierce!!! It was love at 1st site and then it became an obsession when I found out that it came in more than one color! *smile*

I would consider these a shoe with w hidden platform but Saks.com has them listed as "Hidden Platform Ankle Boot' - I think we should refer to these as shooties, shot + bootie = shootie! LOL

Whatever we call them, these are SICKKKKKK....and did I mention that they have a 5 1/2" heel?!?!?

Here's Megan Fox rocking these hotties perfectly! She certainly qualifies for an official Passion For Pretty Quick Clap!!! (you better werk and twerk Miss Fox!)

Corsage For the Lady?

I totally love the lines of the dress above - silhouette skimming, simple, stomach flattening (the ruching), and a POW factor from the corsage on the shoulder.....like a modern, sophisticated twist to the Carrie Bradshaw flower! *applause*

I also adore the corsage satin peep-toe that coordinates although I doubt that I would do these two pieces together.

Open Shoe Insoles

Exhibit A

Isn't that a cute little semi-strappy sandal pictured above?!? I love it, I purchased them from Baker's a few years ago and have only worn them one time because for the 1st time in my life - I have a shoe that just doesn't fit properly!! UGGHHHH

The issue is that my toes kinda sorta *scratching my head*......slide forward and cause my toes to peek through the front opening which is both unattractive looking and gosh darn painful!

Exhibit B (WITH insole)

I have tried MANY of inserts and cushions, I have even sprayed the bottom of my feet with deodorant to prevent the evil "slippage" but have been unsuccessful - that is until I received a sample of Dr. Scholl's For Her Open Shoe Insoles from inside my Marie Claire Magazine last month!!! (yes, I only received 1 insole so it was imperative that I run straight to WalMart to make that purchase!)

With these inserts, women no longer have to sacrifice comfort for fashion in their open-style shoes. Ultra-slim and discreet cushioning for open-style shoes, massaging gel cushioning at the heel and sensitive ball of foot area, soft lining feels great on bare feet, and uniquely designed to fit a variety of open shoes, including sandals, strappy dress shoes, sling backs and slides. (hey, I sound like an advertisement.....send me a check Dr. Scholl's! LOL)
