2008 New York Fashion Walk of Fame: Vote for Your Favorite Designer!

Who will be inducted to the New York Fashion Walk of Fame in 2008? For the first time ever, the public can vote for their favorite designer listed among the 35 finalists chosen by Fashion Walk of Fame Selection Committee. The Fashion Center BID today announced that through its website, http://fashioncenter.com/ the public will get a chance to vote on nominees to be the next inductees on the Walk of Fame.

As announced last month, two fashion designers will be inducted, as they become numbers 25 and 26 names in 2008 New York Fashion Walk of Fame. The Fashion Center BID recently mailed out ballots to 145 fashion industry professionals who will determine the two honorees.
The Fashion Walk of Fame project is an initiative of the Fashion Center Business Improvement District (Fashion Center BID), a not-for-profit corporation established in 1993 to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of Manhattan’s Fashion District.

Over the course of the Walk of Fame project, 24 notable New York designers were given this honor and decorative plaques acknowledging these designers are embedded in the sidewalks along the East Side of Seventh “Fashion” Avenue from 41st Street to 35th Street. Each plaque displays an original sketch by the designer, a brief description of the designer’s contribution to fashion and the designer’s signature.
