Michelle Obama - Fashion Icon in the Making

With a fashion sense that is frequently compared to that of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Michelle Obama pairs unfussy dresses with faux pearls to achieve a look that is simultaneously classic and modern. She always looks confident, comfortable and polished, she has a real handle on her own style and accessories.

Amazingly, Obama does not have a stylist but she is known to frequently work with Chicago's Maria Pinto, the designer of the vibrant purple sheath Obama wore at the Democratic National Convention. Paired with her favorite pearls and an Azzedine Alaia belt, the Pinto ensemble won accolades in the press.

I personally LOVE the Narciso Rodriguez dress the she rocked on Election night, straight of the runway from a September Spring 2009 Fashion Show! She wore a black cropped cardigan over her black and red ombre dress which had a criss cross black satin detail cross her waist, it has been reported that the dress was modified to be a bit more conservative to suit her taste.

  1. Okay, I was not a big fan of the dress Michelle wore on election night. But I absolutely LOVED the red dress she wore to the White House yesterday. It was so red, so chic, so utterly First Lady-ish! Can you find out who designed it?
