In a perfect world, there would be no lipliner.......

....or, more accurately, no need for lipliner. Let's face it; no one actually likes to wear lipliner. It requires a precise application, lengthens your makeup routine, and reminds most normal women of scary early 90's faces sporting dark liner and pale beige lips. (This trend continues, unfortunately, in several pockets of bad taste right here in Jersey).
But the truth is that lipliner is often a necessity WHEN WORN IN THE RIGHT COLOR. It evens out the borders of the lips, corrects any asymmetry, keeps your gloss or lipstick within its proper borders, and - when blended properly - leaves a nice coat of color even after your lipcolor has worn off. So let's all admit that lipliner can be a good thing and move on, shall we?

My favorite when I do wear liner is Lancome Lipcolouring Stick with Brush in Amandelle, $22.50. A soft, creamy, waterproof pencil for gorgeous, professional-looking lips on one end; and a brush for blending on the other. Worn alone or under lipstick, colour stays in place—no feathering or bleeding. (http://www.sephora.com/)
